Pei Tsai (Small Loose-Leaf/White-Petiole Type)

Small loose-leaf type Chinese Cabbages are fast-growing vegetables that can be ready for harvest in 3-4 weeks after sowing. Plants of this family have light green leaves with white petioles. They are more heat-tolerant than other Chinese Cabbages. These varieties are widely grown in Taiwan and Japan. Leaves and petioles are very tender, excellent for stir-fry.

Most varieties of this family are fast growing vegetables. Plants may go into the flowering stage after 30 days, even they have not reached the full size. It is very important to keep the best growing conditions during the early stage: good soil, thinning seedlings to get proper plant-to-plant spacing, timely watering and fertilizing.
